Shadow Defence Secretary: Job cuts 'avoidable'

Cuts being made to the Armed Forces will see 930 RAF and 920 Army personnel told they are being made redundant.

It is the first phase of armed forces job cuts announced in the strategic defence and security review.

Shadow Defence Secretary Jim Murphy said the cuts went too far and were the result of a rushed defence review.

"This has got very long term consequences for our country," he said.
