NatWest Three's David Bermingham on Tony Blair and bail

A member of the so-called NatWest Three, who was extradited to the US on bank fraud charges, described his time in American and British prisons.

David Bermingham said Tony Blair intervened in his case and the defendants were given bail and electronically-monitored in Houston, Texas. He spoke about his plea bargaining and explained why he could not serve time in a US open prison.

He was discussing the case of Christopher Tappin, 65, who has just been extradited to the US on charges of exporting parts for Iranian missiles. Mr Tappin has appeared in court and was remanded in custody until Friday.
