MPs criticise EU plans for new pilot working hours

European proposals to change the number of hours worked by airline pilots are weaker than current UK regulations and could put passengers at risk, MPs have warned.

The European Union wants a single set of rules across Europe.

But the Commons Transport Select Committee says the proposals could, in extreme circumstances, mean pilots having to land a plane after being awake for 22 hours.

The BBC's Richard Westcott reports.
