Six biggest English cities get extra powers

Some of England's biggest cities outside of London are to be given significant extra powers and money.

This is in return for promises to bring down youth unemployment, foster economic growth and speed up regeneration.

The six "city deals" will be announced by the Cities Minister Greg Clark for Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.

The BBC's Local Government correspondent Mike Sergeant reports.
