PM: Britain faces 'hour of reckoning'

The prime minister has said that Britain can compete and thrive in a new world where aspiration is the "engine of progress".

In his speech to the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham, he said that Britain faces "an hour of reckoning", where the country could "sink or swim, do or decline".
