EU president: Liddle, Rees-Mogg, Poirier and Dale debate
Tony Blair has called for the introduction of a directly-elected EU president because it is the "right thing for Europe" said Lord Liddle, who speaks for Labour on Europe in the House of Lords.
Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg said if the job did exist then he did not want the UK to be part of it, but claimed "everyone would be happy" if the post of Holy Roman Emperor was re-created and given to the Queen.
They debated the idea with French journalist Agnes Poirier and broadcaster Iain Dale.
