Labour leader Ed Miliband has urged for an end to ethnic and cultural segregation, while acknowledging the Labour government did "too little" to tackle segregation in struggling communities.

He will also say that universal proficiency in the English language is integral to his "One Nation" ideal and proposes banning those with a poor standard from some public sector jobs.

Iain Watson reports.
