Grant Shapps: 'Income tax free limit may pass £10,000'

Conservative Party chairman Grant Shapps has indicated that the government might consider raising the starting point for paying income tax above the coalition target of £10,000.

His comments came in an interview on BBC Radio 5 live's Pienaar's Politics, and followed a Labour pledge to reintroduce the 10p rate of tax if the party returns to power at the next general election.

Mark Littlewood, a pundit on the programme, also contributed to the discussion on 5 live.
