William Hague: 'We cannot turn away from Syrian people'

British Foreign Secretary William Hague says a "strong, coordinated and determined approach" is needed by the US, UK and allies to tackle the situation in Syria.

Speaking after talks with his US counterpart John Kerry, he said: "We cannot turn away from Syria and its people".

"We will have to be prepared to do more to save lives, to pressure the Assad regime to negotiate seriously, and to prevent the growth of extremism and terrorism if diplomatic efforts are going to succeed."
