Cameron: Lawrence family 'suffered appallingly'

David Cameron has announced that the government "must get to the bottom" of allegations that police were conducting a smear campaign against Stephen Lawrence's family.

David Winnick, Labour MP for Walsall North, asked David Cameron: 'Is it really right for the police to investigate itself?'

Mr Cameron responded: "Nothing off the table. If more enquiries need to be held, they will be held."

He continued: "This is not an acceptable situation - we must get to the bottom of it."
