Cable: 'We need to think long-term' on economic policy

Despite rumours that he wouldn't be going to the Liberal Democrat party debate on the economy, Business Secretary Vince Cable did attend.

In a separate conference, Mr Cable addressed the party and affirmed that there was a growing confidence in the economy but the government needs to avoid a short-term boom, fuelled by rising property prices.

Speaking with Martha Kearney on BBC Radio Four's World At One programme, Mr Cable said: "We shouldn't be jumping up and down because of what has happened over a few months."
