Lord Oakeshott quits Lib Dems after Clegg poll row

Lord Oakeshott, a senior peer, has quit the Liberal Democrat party saying it is "heading for disaster" under Nick Clegg.

He had been facing disciplinary action, for commissioning opinion polls about Mr Clegg's leadership.

Nick Clegg said it was not sensible for party members to take "pot shots" at their own side.
