Labour: More free schools will 'damage standards'

The number of free schools in England will more than double to over 900 by 2020 if the Conservatives are re-elected, David Cameron is to announce.

But Labour has criticised the proposals - saying that free schools lead to school places where they are not needed.

Shadow Education Secretary Tristram Hunt accused ministers of wasting millions of pounds on the schools and called for more accountability and transparency.
