Yvette Cooper warns of IS air strikes helping President Assad

Labour MP Yvette Cooper asked the prime minister how he will avoid inadvertently supporting President Assad's forces if air strikes in Syria go ahead.

She was speaking in the House of Commons after a statement from David Cameron setting out his case for intervention against so-called Islamic State targets.

Mr Cameron said the government had been clear its target was IS, not President Assad, but added "he can't be, in the long-term, running that country".
