McDonnell defends bad language during rally 'joke'

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has been recorded by the Guardian newspaper swearing about "plotting and conniving" Labour MPs.

But speaking on the Today programme the morning after, he defended what he said as a joke, while apologising for using bad language.

"My mum... would wash my mouth out with soap," he told presenter Mishal Husain.
