Spending Review: Cuts are 'body blow' to Scotland

Cuts to next year's Scottish Budget will be less severe than previously predicted, according to UK ministers, but the Scottish finance secretary has said the plans are "the wrong idea for Scotland".

The Scotland Office said the £900m reduction, set out in the UK Spending Review, was better than the £1.2bn predicted by the SNP government.

The Scottish Finance Secretary John Swinney, told the BBC he thought the cuts would be very damaging to the public sector and could hinder Scotland's economic recovery.
