Bishop Philip Tartaglia's worry for institution of marriage

Roman Catholic Bishop Philip Tartaglia outlines why his church is against same-sex marriages.

He said it was wrong to redefine marriage to include unions of the same sex.

The bishop added: "It would be to dismantle the institution of marriage as it has been understood for centuries across all cultures."

The clergyman spoke out following the Scottish government's announcement that it has begun gathering views on whether same-sex marriage should be made legal.

A 14-week consultation asks if marriage in Scotland should be allowed for gay people through a civil or religious ceremony.
