Referendum 'could be challenged'

The UK government has renewed its warning that the Scottish government does not have the power to call an independence referendum.

Lord Wallace, the UK coalition government's law officer for Scotland, has said a legal challenge to a poll held on that basis is "likely to be successful".

The Scottish government has said it is "entirely confident" it has the power to put the question.
