BBC Scotland's debate on the future of Union Terrace Gardens

BBC Scotland has staged a debate on controversial plans to transform the centre of Aberdeen.

Sir Ian Wood, who has pledged £50m to create a new park on the site of Union Terrace Gardens, argued that Aberdeen could not cling to the past.

Opponents say the gardens are an important part of the city's heritage and should not be destroyed.

Voting papers have been sent out in a referendum which will decide the future of the project.
