New Archbishop of Glasgow remarks labelled homophobic

There has been condemnation of Glasgow's new Catholic Archbishop after he suggested the death of Labour MP David Cairns last year may have been connected to the fact he was gay.

Archbishop-elect Philip Tartaglia made the remarks three months ago and has apologised for any hurt he may have caused.

Politicians and Mr Cairns' former partner say he was wrong to suggest the link.
