'Huge impact' of GCSE regrading, says TES journalist Darren Evans

The regrading of English GCSEs for Welsh pupils will have a huge impact on the future of the examination, according to a journalist who has reported on the issue.

Darren Evans, Wales reporter for the Times Educational Supplement, spoke out as it emerged that the Welsh government was warned in advance that its controversial decision to order the regrade risked "seriously damaging the integrity of the qualification".

The warning came from the chief executive of the WJEC exam board, just days before it was directed to regrade papers in Wales.

In England an alliance of pupils, schools and councils has won a legal hearing ask for a judicial review of the decision not to regrade the papers there.

Mr Evans spoke to Radio Wales' Felicity Evans.
