Tommy Farr: Round 15 v Joe Louis for world title, 1937

Welsh boxer Tommy Farr rose from obscurity to meet Joe Louis for the world heavyweight title fight in New York on 30 August 1937.

In front of 32,000 people in New York's Yankee Stadium, Farr took Louis the full 15-round distance.

He was one of only three men to achieve that feat and it was described by the late BBC boxing commentator Harry Carpenter as "one of the best performances ever by any British boxer abroad".
