Aberystwyth University suspension protest stops traffic

Dozens of protestors have taken part in a zebra crossing protest, blocking off the entrance to Aberystwyth University to demonstrate support for two staff members they claim were suspended.

They stopped traffic by walking back and forth on zebra crossings for 10 minutes.

Campaigners say Aberystwyth Arts Centre's director Alan Hewson and operations manager Auriel Martin have been suspended since February.

The university and Mr Hewson announced on Friday that he will retire, but it has not confirmed any suspensions.
