Call for more Gwent Police drug tests after arrests

A drug addiction support group says there was an "extremely poor performance" by Gwent Police last year in some areas of their drug testing.

More than 600 people were referred for help after being arrested, and tested last year -- up 15% on the year before.

But the Drug Intervention Programme says even more should be tested.

Gwent Police said it did make more referrals than the figures suggest but it will continue to improve.

The force said it would be training more officers and hoped there would be more testing as a result.

Paul Heaney has been speaking to one addict who got help.
