Prison overcrowding at 'crisis point', claims Swansea MP

Prison overcrowding is reaching "crisis point" putting inmates, staff and the public at risk, it has been claimed.

Swansea West MP Geraint Davies, whose constituency is home to the most overcrowded prison in England and Wales, has called on Justice Secretary Chris Grayling to resign.

His comments come after the chief inspector of prisons, Nick Hardwick, attacked the state of prisons after dozens of full jails were told to take more inmates.

Mr Davies spoke to Vaughan Roderick on BBC Radio Wales' Sunday Supplement programme.
