Pop tax could cut obesity, says Plaid Cymru

A 20% tax on sugary drinks could cut the number of overweight people in Wales by more than 21,000, Plaid Cymru has claimed.

The party said the measure could also raise up to £45m a year which it would use to help hire an extra 1,000 doctors.

Plaid health spokesperson Elin Jones said the tax would make a difference to the nation's health.
