Caerphilly Cohort Study gives healthy living 'wake-up call'

The man behind a 35-year-long study which has found healthy living significantly reduces the chances of developing a chronic illness said the uptake of a healthy lifestyle is still too low.

The Caerphilly Cohort Study has tracked the lifestyle habits of middle aged men living in the county from 1979 to the present day, looking at the influence of environmental factors on diseases such as dementia and cancer.

Prof Peter Elwood said the study should serve as a wake-up call to the people of Wales to change their habits.
