Volunteer work pays off for closed Wrexham leisure centre

A Wrexham leisure centre looks set to re-open in time for Christmas thanks to the hard work of volunteers.

Plas Madoc leisure centre is on course to open by December after members of the local community pitched in to clean it up.

Now renamed Splash Magic, the leisure centre's future has been in doubt since April, when it was shut as part of a cost-cutting scheme.

Campaigner Darrell Wright said the range of services the re-opened centre could provide to the local community was "endless".
