Shrine to John Cale who 'made artist a woman'

A Cardiff artist who underwent a gender reassignment operation has described the role a Welsh musician played in her journey.

Her exhibition at Cardiff's Queens Arcade on Saturday is called John Cale Made Me a Woman.

Rhiannon Lowe, 42, is exhibiting artwork she produced as she came to terms with who she is.

There is also a shrine to the Velvet Underground musician and items of her clothing embroidered with his name.

Ms Lowe said a meeting with Cale in 2009 was one of the catalysts for her having the operation.
