Welsh Tory row: Cairns says only right to have AM at election debate

Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns has said it is "only right" that Tory AM Darran Millar took part in the BBC Wales Leaders' Debate.

It comes after a row between Mr Cairns and Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies after neither took the podium in Tuesday night's live broadcast.

Despite Mr Davies accusing Mr Cairns of being "unwilling" to take part, Mr Cairns told the Dot Davies programme on BBC Radio Wales that he backed Mr Davies as leader of the Welsh Conservatives "without a question".

He said his feeling was that with most of the other parties fielding assembly members for the debate, the Tories should put forward an AM too.
