Romney and Gingrich tussle over integrity and leadership

In the opening exchanges of the latest debate to determine the Republican presidential nominee, Newt Gingrich and rival Mitt Romney addressed the issues of integrity and the ability to lead.

Mr Romney accused Mr Gingrich of being an "influence peddler" in Washington. But Mr Gingrich dismissed the allegations as "misinformation" and "trivial politics", saying the "American public deserve a discussion about how to beat Barack Obama".

The NBC debate was held ahead of the pivotal Florida presidential primary which will take place on 31 January.
