British Chinese composition for London 2012

Two young British Chinese composers have spoken about the inspiration behind a piece they have written as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Liz Liew and Andy Leung were among 20 composers commissioned to write a piece of music 12 minutes long for the New Music 20x12 project.

The pair told the BBC World Service that their composition XX/XY was designed to capture the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It will premiere in London's Trafalgar Square on 29 January as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
