US: Warning messages issued to fishing boat off UAE coast

Indian fishermen injured when their boat was shot at by a US Navy ship off the coast of the United Arab Emirates have said they received no warnings before they came under fire.

One fisherman was killed and three others injured when the USNS Rappahannock raked the small boat with machine gun fire near Dubai on Monday.

However, George Little, Pentagon spokesman, said the USNS Rappahannock escalated warning measures in response to a potential threat posed by this vessel and that the full facts will be known once an investigation into the incident is complete.
