Which? - Call centre fines are 'good news'

The companies featured on BBC Three programme 'The Call Centre' have been fined £225,000 by the data privacy watchdog.

Nationwide Energy Services Ltd and We Claim U Gain Ltd, both owned by Save Britain Money Limited based in Swansea, have received the fine for failing to adequately check that the people they were dialling were not on the telephone preference service list.

Someone who has campaigned vigorously for companies to be punished like this is Richard Lloyd, executive director of the consumer group Which?

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money: "The system hasn't been working... We've been encouraging the regulator to throw the book at firms that are breaking the rules and it's really good to see them... getting properly punished."
