Libyan NTC troops and Gaddafi loyalists clash in Tripoli

A gun battle has broken out in the Libyan capital Tripoli between forces loyal to the new transitional government and the fugitive ex-leader, Colonel Gaddafi.

Fighting is still ongoing for control of Sirte, the former Libyan leader's home town. Tripoli had seen a period of relative calm.

The BBC's Nick Springate said the latest outbreak of violence followed the release of a tape, reportedly by Colonel Gaddafi, calling for his supporters to come out and fight.
