Top Afghan police negotiator shot dead

Efforts to negotiate a political resolution to the decade-long insurgency in Afghanistan have received another blow, with the death of a senior member of the Afghan peace council.

Arsala Rahmani was shot dead in Kabul while his car was stuck in a traffic jam.

In a separate incident, two British soldiers were shot dead by members of the Afghan police force.
