Nigeria Analysis: State of emergency one year on
In May 2013, Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan imposed a state of emergency in the north of the country.
It was an attempt to curb the increasingly violent attacks by the militant group Boko Haram and President Jonathan said the level of violence called for "extraordinary measures".
But it seems to have had little effect in curbing the Islamist insurgency.
