Japan prepares to turn off last nuclear reactor

In Japan, thousands of people have taken to the streets to celebrate the switching off of the country's last operating nuclear reactor.

Technicians have begun the process of shutting down the Tomari plant for maintenance.

When the reactor goes offline it will mark the first time Japan has been without nuclear power for more than four decades.
