From ordinary mother to 'gal mama'

While many Japanese shoppers have been tightening their belts in the face of financial uncertainty, there is one group that has kept on spending.

Young "gal" girls dress to be noticed and are confident about showing off their figures - and their shopping habits have gone unabated.

They have doubled sales in their favourite Tokyo shopping centre in the last 10 years, and now as so-called "gal mamas" they are spending on their children too.

Here, Haruna Awazu shows how she transforms herself from ordinary mother to "gal mama".
