Thirty one dead in Sri Lanka storms

The Sri Lankan authorities say 31 people are now known to have died in severe storms which hit the west of the country on Friday night and Saturday.

Nearly 30 people were injured and more than 30 are missing.

Nearly all those killed are fishermen, many from communities south of the capital, Colombo.

An inquiry has been launched into whether the meteorology department did enough on Friday to warn fishermen of the dangers of going out to sea.
