India schools hold Sanskrit lessons

Indian school students have had Sanskrit classes introduced to their curriculum in an attempt by the new government of Narendra Modi to boost interest in the ancient language.

Sanskrit, used in some of India's best-known literary works, is spoken by only a small fraction of the population and is just one of more than 20 official languages.
