Over 40 killed after Bangladesh ferry collision

More than 40 people have died in a ferry accident in Bangladesh when the boat capsized on the Padma river, north-west of the capital, Dhaka, after it was hit by a cargo vessel.

Around 90 passengers were on board, and at least 40 of them either swam to safety or were rescued.

The captain and captain's assistant of the cargo ship have been arrested.
