'Fall of Saigon' marked 40 years on in Vietnam

People have gathered in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City to watch a military parade that marks the 40th anniversary of the capture of Saigon, as the city was known then.

The Vietnam War left more than three million Vietnamese people and nearly 60,000 American troops dead. It came to an end on 30 April 1975 when Saigon - then the capital of South Vietnam - was captured by communist troops from the North.
