Japanese troops set to fight overseas for first time since World War Two

Japan's military looks set to expand its remit, after new security laws were approved by a parliamentary committee.

Since the end of World War Two the country's constitution has only allowed the military to use force for self defence, so this could be a significant change of policy.

There has been vocal resistance to the legislation, with opponents arguing that the changes are unconstitutional.
