French police fire tear gas at protesters

Youths demonstrating against pension reforms in France have clashed with police in the Parisian suburb of Nanterre for the second day in a row.

Riot police fired tear gas at a crowd of several hundred demonstrators.

President Nicolas Sarkozy has insisted he will press ahead with pension reforms despite the growing strike movement.
