Marseille council volunteers cleaning streets after week of strikes

Marseille town councillors have begun trying to clean up piles of rubbish from the town's streets after more than 10 days of strike action from refuse collectors.

Volunteers faced anger from striking workers, who say they have a right to industrial action and it is wrong for someone else to be doing their jobs.

They are among thousands of union members protesting across France at government plans to raise the retirement age to 62.
