France pension reform bill set for final vote

Politicians in France are expected to give their final approval later to raising the state retirement age from 60 to 62 enabling President Sarkozy to sign the reform into law.

The proposal has caused weeks of bitter protests, strikes and blockades.

The unions are still planning to go ahead with their day of demonstrations tomorrow and while some refuse to give in there is a sense the protest is losing momentum.

Christian Fraser reports.
