Kosovo PM 'in organ trafficking link'

A report by the continent's premier human rights watchdog, the Council of Europe, suggests that Kosovo's prime minister was once the boss of a criminal underworld behind organ and drug trafficking.

Hashim Thaci used to run the Kosovo Liberation Army and its commanders are alleged to have committed a string of human rights abuses.

His government has dismissed the report as baseless.

A draft copy, seen by the BBC, confirms many of the details in an investigation originally carried out by our East Europe correspondent, Nick Thorpe, in Kosovo and Albania.
