Russian police to change its name to fight corruption

In Russia, a new law enforcement act is coming into force.

Created under the Bolsheviks, the militsiya will now officially be called police.

It has been signed off by the Russian president, Dmitri Medvedev, to reform what is seen as an often corrupt and violent force.

Still, doubts remain over whether a change of name will be enough to help to solve the problems.

Oleg Boldyrev reports from Moscow.
