Italian coastguard search for survivors off Lampedusa

The Italian coastguard are searching for migrants from North Africa whose boat capsized off the island of Lampedusa.

Italian rescue vessels rescued 48 and three were saved by a fishing boat, but 20 deaths were confirmed and at least 130 people are unaccounted-for.

The upheavals in Tunisia and Libya have led to an influx of thousands of illegal immigrants to Italy.

Emma Wallis reports.
